1. Dear James, My name is Jidge Verity. I was the international president of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. During my extended work as a alumni member my fraternity I had many occasions where my undergraduate brothers behaved in a way that enraged me because their behavior was not what I knew my fraternity was about. It wasn’t what my undergraduate experience was about. But I knew in my heart then and now what my fraternity was really about. I would not let their behavior steal my fraternity from me. My Delt experience was too precious to let some drunk idiot who had acted in such an undelt like way ruin what was precious and good to me. I felt deeply hurt myself to watch the desecration perpetrated on my beloved fraternity by these idiots. The desecration took many forms – rape, arson, vandalism, grotesque hazing just to name a few. But I always knew that this was not and is not us .I can only try to understand your hurt. I hope you will not allow these childish drunk, idiots to ruin your fraternity for you. They are not worth it. Your fraternity and your fraternity experience is too important. What they did is not SAE. They will soon not be SAEs. Your fine fraternity has taken steps to show to you and the whole world that these idiots are not the real SAEs that you talk about in your compelling letter. They have deeply hurt you because they have so sullied the fine ideals of SAE that you believe in. Your national office has done all it can do to deserve your forgiveness. Please forgive your fraternity for what these soon to be non SAEs have done. Your fraternity needs you now more than ever. It is feeling pain over this too. Please don’t let these idiots win.
