Superior Man

I saw a tweet recently that read, “Paging Obama administration: ‘The superior man blames himself. The inferior man blames others’ – Don Shula”.”

Now before I go further let me just say this is NOT a political blog post at all. I’m not about to start spouting off ideas pertaining to republican or democratic beliefs. But taking the Don Shula statement and addressing it to the President caused me to really break down what was being said.

To suggest, as this tweet seems to, that the Obama administration is run by inferior men because it blames others for problems suggests the concept that there is a superior man to do otherwise. Yet is Mitt Romney’s campaign or the Republican party claiming fault? Or are they too blaming the current administration for our country’s situations? Take it a step further: who do the American people blame for the problems facing this nation? The left blames the right, the right blames the left.

What is the point in pointing the finger? By saying, “if you were superior you’d blame yourself for my problems,” are we not then calling ourselves inferior as well? AND If the superior man is the one that blames himself, then he may be noble, but he also is a failure. So what good is he? What use is he?

So I say, the superior man blames himself when in fact he was completely blameless thus never failed. But who can that be? Who is One who was blameless but took on the sins of the entire world? (1 Peter 2: 22-24)  Who lowered himself by taking on the “nature of a servant….and humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross?” (Phillipians 2: 7-8)

We look to Washington every 4 years for someone to fix everything for us. We put our faith in men and women that we honestly don’t trust in the first place. We want an outward solution to an inward problem. We must accept that fault and change our view.

So the message of the tweet is not wrong. We do need something superior. “Such a high priest truly meets our need – one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”(Hebrews 7:26) We need a Superior Man, but we don’t have to wait til November. We can accept Him right now! It is HE that brings Hope, Change, Peace; He can move you Forward. Believe in Him, America!

So all that being said: vote but PRAY
